A R Rahman fans say 'Jai Ho'! The multiple Oscar winning composer, singer and all-round musical powerhouse is set to perform in the UAE again. Rahman will be kicking off his World Tour 2011 with a concert in Dubai on December 9.
'A R Rahman - The Man, The Music, The Legend', produced by The Talent Brokers ( Events ), will take place at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai Sports City. And in the concert, Rahman will collaborate with creative director Amy Tinkham - known for creating live musical concerts for a variety of pop-music superstars including Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Mariah Carey.
The music on offer at the concert will be from across Rahman's amazing and varied oeuvre - songs from the soon-to-be-released 'Rockstar' and going back to 'Lagaan', 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', 'Dil Se', 'Rang De Basanti', 'Roja' and, of course, 'Slumdog Millionaire'
While Rahman has performed in the UAE earlier, this is the first time he will return post his Academy Award wins and Golden Globe win for 'Slumdog Millionaire', the movie that catapulted the 'Mozart of Madras' to true international fame.
He has been very busy with several Hollywood projects post the Oscar victory - composing for films including 'Couples Retreat' and '127 Hours' (for which he scored Oscar and Golden Globe nominations; he also recently won the Public Choice Award for the song 'If I Rise' from it at the World Soundtrack Awards 2011).
Rahman has also been part of Superheavy, a band that includes Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Damian Marley and Dave Stewart - a collaboration that has further raised his profile globally.
