Star power engulfed Dubai when Bollywood super-achievers met local winners at the GR8! Women Awards, sponsored by Petrochem, at the Madinat Jumeirah. The awards, which completed a glorious decade in India, were held for the first time in Dubai and true to its name, gave the audience a memorable and great night to celebrate womanhood. Bollywood stars were there in full force to support Shashi and Anu Ranjan, founders of the Indian Television Academy (ITA) and publishers of GR8! Magazine, who put up a splendid show.
Preity Zinta, looking stunning in a pale pink churidar kurta, was awarded for her contribution to cinema and charmed everyone with her wit and spontaneity. But the biggest claps were reserved for the still sexy Zeenat Aman who won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The highlights of the evening were also the electrifying performances by Bollywood celebs. Raveena Tandon showed that she still had the moves to wow 'em all when she danced to her 'Mast Mast' and 'Shaher Ki Ladki' numbers while Jacqueline Fernandes showed off her dancing skills to hot item songs like 'Munni Badnam Hui' and 'Sheila Ki Jawani' and her own hit number 'Dhanno'. However, it was Vivek Oberoi who made a truly jaw-dropping entry - on a bike on stage and then performed to some of his hit songs from 'Dum' and 'Prince'.
Of course, the night belonged to the winners. Seventeen achievers from across the Middle East and India were handpicked for the prestigious awards (check the high-profile list below) including lawyers, social activists, singers, philanthropists and businesswomen – each one of them remarkable in their ambition, admirable in their courage and outstanding in their achievement. A truly GR8! Night! More Info
